Susan has devoted 28+ years of her career to the nonprofit sector and is now a consultant to small to mid-sized nonprofits in grant services, fundraising strategy, and administration.
Susan has worked with organizations of a very wide range of sizes and missions. She has prepared successful proposals for: federal and state block grants; local governments, including ARPA opportunities; the United Way; community foundations; independent foundations of all sizes; family foundations; and corporations. As an "accidental techie," she has helped multiple organizations select and implement constituent relationship management systems and use their data to tell their story.
Susan holds a BA in Political Science from Wellesley College and an MEd in Higher Education Administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She has completed the Education for Ministry program through the University of the South and the Nonprofit Essentials program offered through the Wake Forest University Office of Civic and Community Engagement and HandsOn Northwest NC.
As a former small shop fundraiser, Susan is dedicated to the success and well-being of professionals and volunteers at growing nonprofits. In addition to her work with Arthur Alley, Susan is the founder of Susan Gies Conley Consulting.
